Glade Valley Man Accused of Shooting at Son

Michael Shoemaker, a Glade Valley resident who gained national notoriety several years ago after a domestic dispute in 2009, was arrested Friday morning. Maryland State Police report that Mr. Shoemaker shot at his son Friday morning at their home and family business in the 10000 block of Woodsboro Pike. After consultation with the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office, Michael Shoemaker, 48 years old, was charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, reckless endangerment and weapons charges. Walkersville Holds Public Hearing on Crime

The Town of Walkersville held its regularly scheduled meeting last night with a public hearing on crime. The meeting room was packed with a full-house, an unusual occurrence (most meetings have an audience of less than ten residents). The Burgess and Town Commissioners quickly dealt with usual business. Commissioner Chad Weddle’s proposal to codify the hours of Town Elections passed unanimously. The Labor Day weekend brought more crime to Walkersville when Louie’s Ice Cream was robbed. Louie Hani, owner of Royal Chicken and Louie’s Ice Cream, said he found the crime had occured when he returned to town from Charlestown, West Virginia. The criminals broke into the trailer which houses Louie’s ice cream business. They damaged some of the trailer and the sno-cone machine. Unable to open the cash drawer on his register, the criminals stole the entire cash register. The register contained hundreds of dollars. Louie contacted Maryland State Police,…
