Vacancy on Walkersville Parks Committee

The Town of Walkersville is accepting letters of interest for service on the Parks Committee. The committee recommends policies and procedures, purchases and upgrades, and uses and activities for the Town parks ( Heritage Farm, Creamery, Community, Trout, and Memorial). The Parks Committee is an advisory committee to the Burgess and Commissioners and members serve 2 year terms. The Town of Walkersville launched “The Walkersville Wire” this week. The service allows anyone to register an e-mail and/or cell phone to receive alerts and information from the Town of Walkersville. Dog Attack in Walkersville Prompts Public Health Alert – Officials Seek Attacking Dogs

PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT: A woman and her dog were attacked and bitten by two dogs at approximately 6:10 pm on Monday, January 27, 2020, while walking on Cramer Avenue in Walkersville. The attack occurred while the woman was leash-walking her dog and the two dogs came running toward her from the direction of Sandstone Drive. The biting dogs are described as being about 30lbs-40lbs, with short hair, long legs, slender build and longer snouts; one was charcoal grey and the other was brown/tan. Fitzwater Defends Firefighters Arbitration & Negotiation Bill

This month I introduced a Council bill in support of our firefighters that I have been working on since the summer of 2019. I convened a stakeholder work group, including Stephen Jones, president of the career firefighter’s union, to provide input into the bill. This bill is the result of the Charter amendment passed in November 2018, commonly referred to as ballot Question D. William and Hettie Ballweber Fund Established at Community Foundation

To support proactive initiatives around canine welfare, The Community Foundation of Frederick County announces the establishment of The William and Hettie Ballweber Fund. It becomes one of more than 720 component funds of the Community Foundation.  Hettie Ballweber started the fund to honor her husband’s life’s work of rescuing dogs, animal advocacy, and compassionate pet care.
