Steven Halper

Steven Paul Halper, age 44, died January 31, 2019 after a long battle with muscular dystrophy. He grew up in Walkersville, MD graduating from Walkersville High School and Towson University, Towson, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents: Michael and Marvene Orenstein Halper; grandparents: Esther and Bill Halper and Marvin and Elise Orenstein, of blessed memory. Theft Arrests of Repeat Offenders

On January 25th, 2019, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office detectives were conducting surveillance on two repeat offender theft suspects. Pawn and scrap records indicated that the suspects were likely involved with thefts in the regional area. Detectives observed David Lauran Stotler, Jr., 56, of Frederick, and Kenneth Wayne Hagan, 53, of Frederick, enter The Home Depot located on N McCain Drive in Frederick. Suspects Charged in Waterside LetGo App Theft Series

On January 21st, 2019, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office detectives charged an adult male and juvenile male in a string of thefts involving the popular buy-and-sell app, LetGo. From August through October of 2018, Frederick County Sheriff’s deputies took 3 theft reports in which the victims were attempting to purchase cell phones using the LetGo app. The victims arranged to meet the seller in the Waterside community to make the transaction. James Monroe Stup, a lifelong dairy farmer, died on January 25, 2019 at Homewood at Crumland. Jim was born on January 1, 1929 at the Staley family home on Bloomfield Road. He had recently celebrated his 90th birthday with family and friends. He was the oldest child of Monroe W. and Margaret Staley Stup. Kenneth Leo Hines Sr., age 78, of Woodsboro, died Friday, January 25, 2019 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born September 16, 1940 in Plane #4 (between Mt. Airy and New Market), he was the son of the late V.C. Hines Sr. and Annie Beall Hines.  In earlier years Ken worked on the farm and painted houses.
