County Budget for FY26 Town Hall Meetings

County Executive Jessica Fitzwater is preparing Fiscal Year 2026’s operating and capital budgets based on input from our community. She held a public hearing December 4 to start the conversation. Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company Purchases New Pumper

The Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company recently signed a contract with Atlantic Emergency Solutions to purchase a 2021 Pierce Manufacturing custom pumper truck. The new pumper replaces a 1994 pumper that the fire company says is “degenerating.” In its announcement cancelling the annual carnival, the Fire Company estimated the cost of the new pumper at around $600,000. During the July 8, 2020 Walkersville Town Meeting, Burgess Chad Weddle reported that the new engine will cost $755,000, but the Fire Company will pay $725,000 after receiving a $30,000 discount for paying cash…
