The Town of Walkersville invites citizens to help memorialize and honor our service members by purchasing a commemorative brick. The commemorative bricks will be laid out at Walkersville’s Memorial Park at the corner of Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. Commemorative Bricks will be four inches by 8 inches in size. Each may have up to fourteen characters (letters, numbers, spaces, and punctuation) on each of the three lines of inscription available. Frederick County Government offices and facilities will be closed again on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in order to accommodate snow removal efforts in the county and the City. The City of Frederick is working diligently to clear streets to provide parking for residents and employees. Chimney Fire in Walkersville

The Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company and the Walkersville Volunteer Rescue Company responded to a chimney fire at 53 Main Street in Walkersville shortly before 5:00 p.m. this afternoon. Black billows of smoke poured from the chimney of the house and flames were visible. The apparatus responding blocked Main Street and parts of Five Corners. Junior Fire Company also responded to the call. Firefighters fought the fire from the roof and within the home. The fire was extinguished quickly.
