Frederick County Government offices and facilities will be closed again on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in order to accommodate snow removal efforts in the county and the City. The City of Frederick is working diligently to clear streets to provide parking for residents and employees. The closure includes courts, schools, the landfill, recreation and parks programs, TransIT Services, and public libraries. Televised Briefing on Snow Recovery

Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner provided a storm status report this morning. “We have about 80 – 90% of our residential roads open to at least one lane,” Gardner explained. A lot of snow has to be hauled away in some areas and plows are not effective. Maryland Applying for Disaster Relief

Maryland Emergency Management Agency’s (MEMA) Executive Director Russell Strickland has sent a letter of intent for the State of Maryland to pursue federal disaster assistance and to request that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) begin the coordination for joint damage assessments following the winter storm that covered Maryland in snow this past weekend. Blizzard Clean-Up and Aftermath Continues

Glade Valley and the entire region continue to suffer the costs and burdens of the historic blizzard that dumped 35 inches of snow in Walkersville. Many neighborhoods in the county have not seen snow plows, at all. Frederick County, The City of Frederick, and Frederick County Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday. County Provides Update and Remains Closed

Frederick County is working to recover from this weekend’s historic snow storm by focusing snow removal based on long-established priorities. Snow removal is a dynamic process that takes into consideration emergency and life safety incidents, vehicles buried in the snow, and weather conditions including road and air temperatures and wind.
