Parkside Developers Hope to Retain Existing Farm House

At last night’s meeting of the Walkersville Planning Commission, Mr. Tom Poss asked for permission to make a change to the proposed Parkside Development along Biggs Ford Road. The property which has been a small farm with cattle and crops will be transformed into a development of more than twenty single-family homes. Walkersville Developments Progress

Four projects in the Town of Walkersville continue at various stages of approval and development. The projects will add about 450 people (7.5%) to the population based upon housing numbers. The largest of the projects will be the development of the Bell Farm on Fountain Rock Road. The development plans for over one-hundred homes. The main entrance will be on MD 194 at the existing entrance to the Walkersville High School and Walkersville Elementary School entrance; Antietam Drive will extend into this new neighborhood. Honor a Veteran – Memorial Park Bricks Available

The Town of Walkersville invites citizens to help memorialize and honor our service members by purchasing a commemorative brick. The commemorative bricks will be laid out at Walkersville’s Memorial Park at the corner of Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. Commemorative Bricks will be four inches by 8 inches in size. Each may have up to fourteen characters (letters, numbers, spaces, and punctuation) on each of the three lines of inscription available. Biggs Ford Solar Farm Requests Continuance After Similar Project is Denied

The Frederick County Board of Zoning Appeals met Thursday evening to discuss three proposed solar energy farms, including the proposed solar arrays on former Walkersville Burgess Ralph Whitmore’s farm on Biggs Ford Road. Mr. Whitmore’s farm and a proposed solar farm at Ballenger Creek Pike and East Basford Road both lie on property in priority preservation areas. Town of Walkersville Opposes Solar Farm

On Wednesday evening, the Town of Walkersville voted to forward a letter opposing a solar farm on Biggs Ford Road. That letter from the Walkersville Planning Commission resulted from Tuesday evenings Planning Commission meeting. The Frederick County Board of Zoning Appeals requested input from Walkersville, because the property lies within Walkersville’s area of influence and a priority preservation area as defined by Frederick County.
