Biggs Ford Solar Farm Requests Continuance After Similar Project is Denied

The Frederick County Board of Zoning Appeals met Thursday evening to discuss three proposed solar energy farms, including the proposed solar arrays on former Walkersville Burgess Ralph Whitmore’s farm on Biggs Ford Road. Mr. Whitmore’s farm and a proposed solar farm at Ballenger Creek Pike and East Basford Road both lie on property in priority preservation areas. Solar Farm Proposed on Biggs Ford Road

Former Walkersville Burgess Ralph Whitmore’s farm on Biggs Ford Road may soon be a very large solar farm. The Frederick County Board of Zoning Appeals will hear a request from Biggs Ford Solar Center LLC and Coronal Development Services, both of Charlottesville, Virginia, for a special exception use on the property which is zoned agriculture. The property is located just outside of Walkersville at the corner of Dublin Road and Biggs Ford Road. Whitmore Will Not Seek Re-Election

As he wrapped up last night’s Town Meeting, Walkersville Burgess Ralph Whitmore announced that he will not be seeking re-election this year. While there were many rumors that he would not run, this was his first official statement. After the Town Commissioners unanimously approved fiscal year 2016 budgets for the general fund and water fund, Whitmore explained there was a lot to do over the next few months before the Town holds elections. Walkersville Honors Veterans

The Town of Walkersville celebrated Veterans’ Day a few days early on Sunday, November 9th during a Veterans’ Day Service at Memorial Park. Commissioner Donald Schildt, Sr. organizes the annual event and served as master of ceremonies. He welcomed the larger than usual crowd and made introductions.
