Glade Valley Man Accused of Shooting at Son

Michael Shoemaker, a Glade Valley resident who gained national notoriety several years ago after a domestic dispute in 2009, was arrested Friday morning. Maryland State Police report that Mr. Shoemaker shot at his son Friday morning at their home and family business in the 10000 block of Woodsboro Pike. After consultation with the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office, Michael Shoemaker, 48 years old, was charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, reckless endangerment and weapons charges. New Burgess and Town Commissioners Sworn In

The Town of Walkersville began a new chapter with a new Burgess and Town Commissioners Wednesday evening. Chad Weddle, who has served as a Town Commissioner for the past nineteen years, took the oath of office becoming Walkersville Burgess before a large crowd in Walkersville Town Hall. Mr. Weddle succeeds Ralph Whitmore, who served as Burgess for the past sixteen years. A new board of Town Commissioners were also sworn into office.
