Glade Coat Drive

Glade Elementary School hopes to Spread the Warmth to more than two-hundred Glade Valley children this winter. They ask for help reaching this goal by asking the community to donate all types of clean, gently-used coats. Donors may place donations in the labeled box in the Glade Elementary School’s lobby during regular school hours October 30th – November 25th, at STEM Night on November 12th, or during Parent Teacher Conferences on November 24th and November 25th. Glade Valley Community Services Benefit Concert

St. Timothy’s Catholic Church will host a benefit concert for Glade Valley Community Services on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Local choirs and musicians will present contemporary and traditional church music under the direction of Dr. Aaron Jansen, director of parish music at Peace in Christ Lutheran Church. The concert serves as the organization’s major fundraising event of the year. Thrivent Financial will match the funds collected through the freewill offerings of those attending the concert. New Managers of Community Thrift Shop

MaryAnne Schouw and Mel Palmer have graciously volunteered as the new co-managers of the Glade Valley Community Services‘ Community Thrift Shop. They take over management after long-time managers Kathy and Barry Maronis retired recently. Mel has lived in Walkersville for the past 25 years and recently retired from the National Institute of Health. She has been volunteering for the community for many years- Food Bank, GVAA cheerleading coach, vacation bible school, and is active in her church’s programs. Scouting for Food – Glade Valley Food Bank Shelves Empty

Glade Valley’s Boy Scout annual Scouting for Food drive begins November 1st. This year, the need for donations of non-perishable foods at the Glade Valley Food Bank can be seen in the empty store rooms. Glade Valley Community Services, which operates the Food Bank, has been forced to purchase a lot of food to make up for the shortage of donations.
