New Managers of Community Thrift Shop

Local, Award-Winning Country Music from Mike Kuster

MaryAnne Schouw and Mel Palmer have graciously volunteered as the new co-managers of the Glade Valley Community Services‘ Community Thrift Shop. They take over management after long-time managers Kathy and Barry Maronis retired recently.

Mel has lived in Walkersville for the past 25 years and recently retired from the National Institute of Health. She has been volunteering for the community for many years- Food Bank, GVAA cheerleading coach, vacation bible school, and is active in her church’s programs. Mel has volunteered at the Thrift Shop for at least the past fifteen years.

MaryAnne moved to Walkersville 23 years ago and has volunteered at the Thrift Shop for over seven years. She is active in her church’s activities and has volunteered extensively in the schools and PTSA.

Both Mel and MaryAnne took on the job of co-manager because they love how the Thrift Shop helps the community and didn’t want to see it close due to lack of a management.
