Emergency Relief Fund Continues to See Increasing Number of Callers

The Emergency Relief Fund program of GVCS provides information, referrals and financial assistance to local residents who are experiencing emergency hardships in covering expenses for their basic human needs. The Fund provides assistance for utilities (electric, water, sewer), medical needs, rent, homelessness prevention (motel) and other necessary expenses. Through an intake interview with one of the two volunteers, callers’ needs and eligibility are determined. GVCS Emergency Relief Fund

The Glade Valley Community Services’ Emergency Relief Fund assists eligible individuals and families living in the Glade Valley area with emergency financial assistance in the following areas: utilities (electric, gas, water), heating oil and rent/mortgage. Assistance in other areas is considered on a case-by-case basis, such as for medical needs and motel stays for those who are homeless. Glade Valley Community Services Benefit Concert

St. Timothy’s Catholic Church will host a benefit concert for Glade Valley Community Services on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Local choirs and musicians will present contemporary and traditional church music under the direction of Dr. Aaron Jansen, director of parish music at Peace in Christ Lutheran Church. The concert serves as the organization’s major fundraising event of the year. Thrivent Financial will match the funds collected through the freewill offerings of those attending the concert.
