GVCS Emergency Relief Fund

The Glade Valley Community Services’ Emergency Relief Fund assists eligible individuals and families living in the Glade Valley area with emergency financial assistance in the following areas: utilities (electric, gas, water), heating oil and rent/mortgage.

Assistance in other areas is considered on a case-by-case basis, such as for medical needs and motel stays for those who are homeless. Our two Emergency Relief intake volunteers have seen a sharp increase in the number of local callers who are experiencing financial difficulties, are homeless or are on the verge of homelessness with evictions. Unfortunately, the county does not have adequate shelters for many of these folks.

Emergency food needs are referred to the Glade Valley Food Bank. Assistance is limited in dollar amount and frequency (once in an 18 month period).

Those people seeking assistance or information may call the GVCS office and the intake coordinators return their calls. Information and referrals are provided to each caller regardless of residency.

This assistance is only possible because of very generous donations from the community to GVCS. Thank you to all who donate and continue to support GVCS programs. Thank you to Ann and Vicki, the intake volunteers, who care so much about helping our clients.
