Food Drive Organized by Glade Valley Boy Scouts

The Walkersville/Woodsboro/Mt. Pleasant area Boy Scout annual Scouting for Food drive is happening now! The scouts left empty food bags on front doors throughout the area on Saturday, November 7. Residents are urged to place the bags filled with non-perishable food outside their doors on Saturday, November 14, 2015 by 9:00 a.m. for pickup. As Glade Valley is a growing area, there are not enough Scouts to cover all neighborhoods. Walkersville Community Mourns Loss and Prays

The Walkersville Community is reeling from a terrible accident yesterday afternoon. Walkersville High School graduates Christian Thomason and Tyler Holland were in the single vehicle accident along with Jared Spangler of Reisterstown. Mr. Thomason did not survive the accident. Maryland State Police report that he was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. Tyler Holland, one of the two passengers flown to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, is in the Intensive Care Unit at the Trauma Center. This evening, medical staff listed his condition as…

Walkersville Honors Veterans

The Town of Walkersville honored the men and women who have served our country through military service during its annual Veterans Day Service on Sunday, November 8, 2015. The service, held at Walkersville’s Memorial Park, featured two World War II Veterans as speakers. Marvin Elfman served in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946. Elwood Hummer served in the United States Navy in 1944. Walkersville Audit Shows Strong Finances

The Town of Walkersville hired auditors to review its finances, and received the report from auditors Wednesday evening. Smith Elliot Kearns and Company, LLC audited the town’s records before presenting its report during the Walkersville Town Meeting. Revenue for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015 exceeded budgeted expectations by more than $550,000. Cash in the Town’s General Fund increased more than $630,000 compared to last year.
