The Town of Walkersville hired auditors to review its finances, and received the report from auditors Wednesday evening. Smith Elliot Kearns and Company, LLC audited the town’s records before presenting its report during the Walkersville Town Meeting. Revenue for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015 exceeded budgeted expectations by more than $550,000. Cash in the Town’s General Fund increased more than $630,000 compared to last year. Glade Valley Community Services, Inc. (GVCS) sponsors the annual Holiday Toy Shoppe. This community wide effort assists families needing assistance in the Glade Valley area to provide a better Christmas for their children than might otherwise be possible. The program relies heavily on the generosity of local churches, organizations, business and residents to provide the requested items. GVCS provides funding for the purchase of items, where needed, should community donations prove insufficient.
