Walkersville Passes Budget and Tax Rate

The Town of Walkersville’s Burgess and Commissioners will meet this evening to discuss the tax rate and proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2016. During their meeting on May 13, 2016, the Burgess and Commissioners voted to move ahead with a proposed budget and maintaining the current tax rate of $0.15 per $100 assessed value.  That vote brought the matter to a public hearing this evening. County Council Cancels Budget Worksession

The Frederick County Council decided yesterday to cancel its Friday, April 24, budget worksession. The consultants from Clifton, Larson, Allen LLP who made a presentation Wednesday before the council will review additional budget matters with the county’s Budget Office. The County Council will then schedule another public budget worksession in the near future with the consultants. The budget PowerPoint and exhibits presented to the council Wednesday are available at  www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/council. County Council Schedules Budget Hearings

In accordance to Frederick County’s Charter, after the County Executive submits the proposed budget to the council, the council must hold a public hearing on the budget. After the hearing, the council may reduce or delete items in the proposed budget, but may not add items to it or increase any proposed expenditure, except for increases above the Board of Education’s Maintenance of Effort requirement.
