Goalie Alex Moore Shines in Loss to Middletown
WHS Lions Pride Original Story:
by Shamus Beck
On a cold foggy night in the mountains of Frederick County. Walkersville took on Middletown in the rivalry of the season. Middletown took this game 1-0.
Middletown controlled the ball for a majority of the game and held the ball in the Lion’s half for the majority. Junior goalkeeper Alex Moore had a great game coming up with ten acrobatic saves and watching many more sail wide of the goal. The whole defensive unit of the Lion’s played together and fended off many would be shots of their own. Senior Jody Brunty said “We had a great game except for one mishap.”
The Lion’s stout defense stayed strong until there was a lapse in communication and the Knights’ Micah Benson slipped one past Moore for the only goal of the game. Senior Wilson Yoingco said “It was one of our best defensive games of the season,” when asked about how the team performed.
The next twenty minutes the Lion’s fought to get back to even with the Knights but could not get one past the goalie. Junior Jack Gant said “Alex Moore stepped up tonight it was impressive.”
