Wednesday brought hopes of a snow day for children and teachers around the region. The Alberta Clipper held off until mid-morning and wrapped up before the end of school. Students and teachers stared out upon the falling snow in anticipation of an early release. All that pining was for naught.

A few inches fell on Glade Valley, but the impact was light. Students walked home through the snow or road their buses home without any reported incidents. Some parents grumbled that the roads were not safe, but the majority of accidents in Frederick County occurred during the height of the storm and before schools closed.
