Rutter’s Presents Plan for Old Exxon Property in Walkersville

Rutter’s Farm Store, a convenience store providing food and fuel, plans to move into Walkersville. Representatives from Rutter’s presented plans at the Town of Walkersville’s Planning Commission Public Hearings the past two months. They have not submitted site plans for approval, but concepts for feedback from the Town. The proposed store would be Rutter’s Farm Store’s only Maryland location. Walkersville Veterans Day Service

The Town of Walkersville held its annual Veterans Day Service on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Memorial Park in town. Town Commissioner Don Schildt, Sr., who organizes the annual event, observed during his welcoming remarks that it was the largest turn-out for the event. In fact, the entire intersection of Five Corners was filled to standing room only for the event. The Boy Scouts served as the Color Guard and all joined in the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the national anthem, “Star Spangled Banner” as the Yellow Spring Band…

Walkersville Lions Win Season Opener

The Walkersville Lions started their 2016 season with a huge win over Governor Thomas Johnson High School. In front of a packed stadium, the Lions put 29 points on the score board to the Patriots’ 8 points. The Lions quickly scored a touchdown in the first half. That was followed by a safety. After a failed field goal, the Lions scored another touch down. The Patriots could not seem to move down the field for most of the game. Walkersville Middle School Addresses Rumors

Walkersville Middle School principal, Stacey Hiltner sent a message out to families via e-mail this evening to address the many rumors swirling through Glade Valley in classrooms, in neighborhoods, and online today.  Many students discussed threats made by one student about “shooting up the school.” By the end of the day, students were claiming that a gun was found in a locker and the student had been removed from school.
