Vehicle Theft and Break-Ins

The first week of August brought the equivalent of a crime wave for Walkersville. Vehicle break-ins were caught on camera in Deerfield, and a vehicle theft at the new Liberty gas station on Sandstone Drive. As we reported earlier, Dave Cole, a local resident, caught the criminals in Deerfield on his video cameras. Maryland State Police updated GladeValley.net this week that, “The Deerfield case is still active, but we have identified suspects. Accident on Daysville Road

At 5:18 p.m. on August 5, 2015, units from Walkersville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies were dispatched for a vehicle accident in the area of the 9900 block of Daysville Road. While units were en route, dispatch advised that a single car was in a guard rail with one patient. Ambulance 249 arrived on the scene to confirm dispatch with one vehicle and a patient still in the car. Engine 111 and Rescue Squad 24 arrived on the scene. At 9:42 p.m. on July 29, 2015, Walkersville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies were dispatched to MD 26 and the Monocacy River for a rapid water rescue. While units were en route, Emergency Communications Center told all incoming units that Maryland State Police were on the scene with one patient on an island in the middle of the river. $1.1 Million State Grant for Rural Legacy

During her weekly press briefing, County Executive Jan Gardner announced that the Maryland Board of Public Works yesterday approved the FY2016 Rural Legacy Program grants, which included $1.1 million for Frederick County’s Mid-Maryland Frederick-Carrollton Manor Rural Legacy Area grant. “Frederick County did exceptionally well this year in the state’s round of grant awards totaling more than $10 million. We received 10 percent of that total for our Rural Legacy Grant program to preserve Frederick County’s rich agricultural heritage.
