Vehicle Theft and Break-Ins
The first week of August brought the equivalent of a crime wave for Walkersville. Vehicle break-ins were caught on camera in Deerfield, and a vehicle theft at the new Liberty gas station on Sandstone Drive.
As we reported earlier, Dave Cole, a local resident, caught the criminals in Deerfield on his video cameras. Maryland State Police updated GladeValley.net this week that, “The Deerfield case is still active, but we have identified suspects. No further information can be disseminated at this time.”
Maryland State Police also provided an update on the case at the Liberty gas station. “The vehicle theft from Liberty case has been solved.” Charges against the suspect in that case were pending a hearing in front of the commissioner.
These cases come as some in the community have pushed for more action on crime in the Town of Walkersville. The Burgess and Town Commissioners will hold a public hearing on September 9, 2015 during its regular meeting time.
