WHS Wins Ravens Voting Competition, Earning Money and Spirit for the School

On September 7th the Baltimore Ravens started a voting competition on three high school teams and who ever gets the most votes by September 13th gets a donation of $1000 to their school and gets their stadium decorated for their game on September 16th.

The three games that were chosen to be in the competition were FSK at Walkersville, Liberty at Williamsport, and last but not least Tuscarora at Frederick. Tuscarora had no chance in winning this one with their final results ending with 8,623 votes. With hard work coming from the final four communities it was a very tough competition from the beginning to the end of it of the voting. It was back and forth multiple times but FSK at Walkersville pulled through.

Liberty at Williamsport finished with 235,796 votes and FSK at Walkersville finished with a whopping 280,439 votes. It was a record for the Ravens competition that’s held at a different high school from week one to week ten.

Walkersville High took advantage of this great opportunity. “It brings excitement to our program, school and community because everyone has worked so hard to vote. It’s going to bring more excitement to Friday night because of the decorating and the hype of the Ravens supporting us,” said Walkersville football head coach Joe Polce.

“It brings a great pride to our school to represent the Ravens and helps us out with the donation of $1000. It’s also really cool because we played in the Ravens stadium last year in the state championship game and they’re decorating our stadium,” said Quarterback Billy Gant.

“It will definitely have a lot more hype than average games. Even if it’s just FSK, We’ll still be really excited and play hard. Plus we get a donation of $1000 which will help our program,” said lineman Ethan Parrish.

This Friday night when Walkersville takes on FSK will be a special moment for the football team and the community.
