Walkersville Responds to House Fire

Walkersville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies responded to a call for a house fire on Thursday, November 12, 2015 in the 10300 block of Old Annapolis Road.

Chief 15-3 arrived on the scene with fire showing and assumed command.

Soon after, Engine 172 arrived on the scene. The crews pulled a 1 3/4 line to begin attack on the fire.

All other units arrived on the scene and took their assigned positions.

Soon after, command advised Emergency Communications Center to start the RIT and tanker task force due to the location being in a non-hydrant area. Engine Tanker 114 arrived on the scene and began to help Engine 23 set up water supply.

Qunit 11 arrived on the scene and began laddering the roof and making trench cuts for venting.

Rescue Squad 24 arrived on the scene and set up for cascade system to fill bottles.

The tankers arrived on scene to supply water.

Fire was then extinguished and some units remained on the scene for an extended amount of time to help clean up and overhaul.
