Roger Johnson Retires from GVCS Board
Mr. Roger Johnson recently announced his retirement from the Glade Valley Community Services Board of Directors. He has served on the Board and been active in GVCS since 2005.
Among his many jobs, Roger arranged choir concerts with area choir directors as a fundraiser for GVCS. He wrote the thank you notes to donors. Roger was a former editor of this newsletter; Catherine, his wife of fifty-seven years, helped him with the newsletter and mailing.
Before retiring, Roger was a microbiologist and worked at the Cancer Research Center at Ft. Detrick and BioWhittaker in Walkersville. He has been active in the Civil War Round Table for over forty years, as well as the Sons of Veterans of the Civil War, and The Company of Military Historians.
Roger got involved with GVCS through his church. He said the GVCS Board of Directors is the “most productive group I have ever worked with. They are not just talk, they get things done.”
You were one of that group who got things done, Roger! Thank you for your many contributions to GVCS and to the community. Your service to our community is greatly appreciated. You have made a difference in many ways.
