On October 23th, 2014 the Lady Lions volleyball team played the FSK Eagles for their senior night. Cora Etzler and Kiley Duncan were honored alongside the opening ceremony of the new gym.

The “opening ceremonies”, if you will, commenced at 6pm. The ceremony consisted of an inspiring speech from Principal Tracey Franklin, and then an emotional serenade by sophomore Megan McGee. She sung her own version of Bon Jovi’s “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” modified to fit the theme of the new gym.

The JV girls played first and fell to the Eagles 3-0. Then came the senior night festivities. The announcer talked about the two senior girls in depth and relayed the girls’ messages and gratitude to the audience. Duncan was featured for playing volleyball for four years and thanked her parents for everything they have done for her. Etzler was also the center of attention; the announcer gave her thanks to her parents and friends.

Now it was time for the Varsity girls to play their first of many games in their brand new gym. The varsity girls battled very hard to bring back a W for their premier game in their new den. They fell short, despite blaring efforts by junior libero Jordan Middleton. The end score was 3-1.

Although senior night was a success, the Lady Lions didn’t come out with the win.gym reopening 5gym reopening 2
