Lyons Den Pictures recently opened a studio on West Pennsylvania Avenue in Old Town Walkersville. As part of Walkersville Days celebration, they will  hold an Open House at their new Photography Studio, and welcome the public to see what they have to offer. Stephanie Lyons, owner of the studio, promises great deals on packages and sessions. The prices will be announced tonight for only Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Failed Septic or Development

Next week, Robert and Mary Shoemaker’s lot on Devilbiss Bridge Road will be before the Frederick County Planning Commission. The Frederick County Division of Community Development will be requesting, on behalf of the Shoemakers, a change in sewer service designation. The Frederick County Health Department “indicated that a connection to the public sewer system is warranted due to the existence of shallow depth to limestone bedrock, multiple rock outcroppings, and insufficient space for a replacement septic system on the property.” Currently designated as Planned Service, they request a change to S3 – Preliminary Design…

New Water Treatment Facility

The Town of Walkersville has been planning to replace its aging water treatment facility for some time. The Town’s water treatment plant is about forty years old. Last year, town leaders agreed to pursue plans for a system that utilizes reverse osmosis. Reverse osmosis water treatment plants utilize a semi-permeable membrane to filter molecules or ions from water, and pressure to reverse the natural flow of solvents through the membrane.
