Walkersville Friends of the Walkersville Library Hosting “Run for the Books 5K”
The Friends of the Walkersville Library will host a new fundraiser, Run for the Books 5-K, on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Heritage Farm Park. The first Annual Run with the Books is hosted by Friends of the Walkersville Library and Deborah Wallace Allstate Insurance. The race is scheduled during the festive Walkersville Days celebration. Participants will run on paved pathways that meander through the grounds of Heritage Farm Park which offers a fairly even elevation. Walkersville Library Groundbreaking Ceremony
Pictures by Kate Kuster Town of Walkersville, County, and Library officials broke ground on Walkersville’s new library Monday afternoon. A large crowd gathered to witness the event and cheer the long awaited library. The ceremony began with a flag ceremony performed by the Cub Scout Pack 1070. Walkersville High School’s band performed The Star Spangled Banner and On Wisconsin. Director of Frederick County Public Libraries, Darrel Batson noted that discussions for replacing the Walkersville Library have been ongoing since before his tenure in the late 1990’s.
