The developers of Mill Run, a planned development on West Pennsylvania Avenue in Walkersville, began the early stages of their project last week. Large equipment moved earth and crews blasted large stone.
The entrance and future road to the neighborhood of twenty-six new single-family homes became apparent after a short few days. The property entrance lies between the home of the Quinn Family and the railroad station. The property itself winds along the railroad, the back yards of homes on Maple Avenue, and the track at Walkersville Middle School.
Mill Run is one of three developments in the works in Walkersville. Two of those developments, Mill Run and Park Side, are on West Pennsylvania Avenue / Biggs Ford Road. The third, the Bell Farm, is on Fountain Rock Road and has also seen a lot of earth moving on the property.
In total, the three developments will add approximately 155 homes to the Town of Walkersville.
Another development planned for Glade Road across from Winter Brook was approved by the Planning Commission, but that approval expired. The owner presented plans to change from condominiums or apartments to town homes earlier this year, but no application has been submitted.
