Lions Win 14 – 6
The Walkersville Lions’ Varsity Football made it 3 and 0 Friday night against Catoctin. Brad Wolfe’s interception in the end zone in the final two minutes of play helped keep the team’s lead over Catoctin.
The Lions made the only scoring drive in the first half. Chad Gleason, running back, scored first in the second quarter for a 65-yard touchdown run. Patrick Cleveland, defensive end-runnning back for Walkersville, scored the second touchdown for the Lions in the third quarter.
Catoctin’s quarterback Ben Dewees scored his team’s only touchdown by their offense this season. It was not enough to break the team’s losing record, which now stands at 0-3.
The Lions struggled to maintain their lead during the fourth quarter. Despite three fumbles in the fourth, the Lions’ defense kept Catoctin from scoring.
The Lions will face the Middletown Knights on Friday at home. The game starts at 7:00 p.m., and promises to be a great game. Middletown lost to Boonsboro, a team Walkersville beat handily two weeks ago.
