Every girl wants to be treated like a princess. With a dream closet like Cinderella, what more could you want?

For eleven and a half years now, Cinderella’s Closet at the Walkersville Fire Hall has been open during homecoming and prom seasons for girls who are looking for something affordable.

This event was started by Ellen Nicodemus and has been passed down to Kathy Briske. I asked Briske why they thought of this and she said, “Everything is so expensive and the girls should have an alternative so it is affordable.”

As well as other volunteers, Briske loves helping out. “It’s a good bit of work but it only takes one girl to be happy. When a girl puts on a dress and just beams, it’s the best feeling in the world.”

Briske also said, “Our prime purpose is not to be a fundraiser, to serve the students and community to make it affordable.” Briske would like to note that: No dress is over$35, jewelry is $5, and ALL FUNDS go to student scholarships.

They are picking back up in the spring of 2015 for prom season, and are hoping to continue next year plus many years to come. Mrs. Briske will be sending emails to other schools to notify them that all students are welcome.
