Garbage Fire Dumped From Garbage Truck

Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Adventure Avenue in Walkersville shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018. The contents of a garbage truck apparently caught fire. The crew dumped the load on Adventure Avenue just off of Woodsboro Pike. Walkersville Elementary School students were delayed in getting home. Buses were not able to leave the school property onto Woodsboro Pike. No further information has been released.

New Walkersville Library Set to Open Doors March 10

Final preparations are underway to open the doors to Walkersville’s new library. The new facility will open on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Located on South Glade Road, the 15,000 square-foot facility will replace the current and smaller Walkersville library. The new building will offer an expanded collection; a science, technology, engineering and mathematics lab; meeting rooms; computers and more to better meet the needs of the community. Work Progressing on Large Development in Walkersville

The Town of Walkersville will see over one-hundred new single-family homes when the “Bell Property” is fully developed. The Bell Property is located next to Walkersville Elementary School and lies between Woodsboro Pike and Fountain Rock Road.
