Walkersville Middle Librarian One of 25 Nominees for Maryland School Librarian of the Year

The Maryland Association of School Librarians (MASL) recently announced the 25 nominees for the 2017 Maryland School Librarian of the Year award. Seven are from Frederick County Public Schools. They are: Ann Duncan, Walkersville Middle; Laura Hicks, Frederick High; Emily Nauman, Monocacy Elementary; Brittany Nuse, Valley Elementary; Maria O’Toole, Carroll Manor Elementary; Renate Owen, Oakdale High; and Jennifer Shesman, Thurmont Middle. Monocacy River Plan Public Outreach Efforts Clarified

Steps taken by the Monocacy Scenic River Citizens Advisory Board to notify the public about the 2016 Draft Monocacy Scenic River Management Plan were recently misrepresented. Both Frederick and Carroll County Governments, on behalf of the River Board, mailed notices to Monocacy River corridor landowners in October of last year, announcing the release of the River Board’s Draft Plan. Monocacy Scenic River Board Revises Draft River Management Plan

On Wednesday, February 1, 2017, the Monocacy Scenic River Board met to consider public comments received by the close of the public comment period (January 31, 2017) on their Draft Monocacy River Management Plan. The volunteer board of citizens from Carroll and Frederick Counties have been working to revise a plan originally approved in the 1990’s.
