Boy’s Soccer Team Starts Strong with a 3-0 Victory
WHS Lions Pride Original Story:
by Shamus Beck
On a hot and muggy day on the campus of Mount St. Mary’s University, Walkersville’s boys soccer team battled the Catoctin Cougars and started the season 1-0 with a 3-0 victory.
Leading the way for the Lion’s victory were freshmen Spencer Shortt and Tanner Seymour, and sophomore Michael MacCracken. Shortt and MacCracken scored in the first half. With the Lions up 2-0 to start the second half, the Lions had to wait thirty seconds for the game winner to come off a corner kick right to Tanner Seymour.
Protecting the net for the Lions was junior Alex Moore with a shut out of five saves including a penalty kick.
After the game Seymour tells us his thoughts on the Lion’s performance “It was a well deserved win; we communicated throughout the whole game, and it was a great way to start the season.”
Senior Connor Clabaugh said “It was a very good win. I’m very happy.”
