The Walkersville High School Lions have faced a rough couple of games but gained back some much needed confidence against Thomas Johnson High School Monday night.  The game ended in a scoreless tie.

The Lions had to fight through 100 minutes of play Monday. After the first two halves of the game it remained tied 0-0 so they went through two 10 minute overtimes to see if they could break the tie. “We really need to learn to finish when we’re given the chance to do so,” Lino Aguilar-Barron said about the tie when both teams had several chances to end the game as winners.

Getting to the middle of the season, the Lions have started facing the challenges of injuries, with a few players out for the game and one more getting hurt during the TJ match. They kept fighting through it. “We kept fighting tonight and that’s what helped us tonight.” Connor Owen said.

The Lions offense struggled to get going and didn’t start challenging TJ’s goalie until late in the second half.

With superb defense and goaltending the Lions shielded away everything thrown their way. Alex Moore had nine saves with many more not on goal. “TJ Metcalfe played superbly, and as a team we did a pretty good job on defense,”  Captain Wilson Yoingco told us when asked about the team’s efforts.
