The Lions won their match with a late header by Senior Tanner Green on Wednesday night. Walkersville fought hard for eighty minutes and prevailed against North Carroll.

Walkersville didn’t have to wait long to start off the festivities with a goal by sophomore Michael MacCracken three minutes into the game.

North Carroll finally got the ball into the net with thirteen minutes remaining in the half and once again with six minutes left. North Carroll had a 2-1 lead going into halftime.

Walkersville had to wait until almost halfway through the second half when Sophomore Garrett Allen unleashed a beauty of a shot from the eighteen yard line and over the goalie’s hands. “We played well as a team for this victory.” Allen said when asked about the game.

With the game all tied up and the game clock winding down, the Lions got fouled right outside the penalty box, Spencer Shortt took the direct kick which the goalie blocked. While it was still in the air Tanner Green got the game winner by heading the ball in the back of the net with seven minutes remaining. “It was fantastic, that’s all I have to say” said Green.

After the goal, the Lions dropped back to defense and fended off a valiant second effort by North Carroll. “We came out with a lot more effort in the second half.” MacCracken said.
