Accident in Woodsboro

On June 14th at 12:04 p.m., Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company (Co.11) and Walkersville Volunteer Rescue Company (Co.24) were dispatched for a vehicle accident with entrapment at Rt.194 (Woodsboro Pike) and Rt. 26 (Liberty Rd.). While units responded, Frederick County Emergency Communications Center (ECC) also dispatched Woodsboro Volunteer Fire Company (Co.16) to Rt.550 and Liberty Road in Woodsboro for a vehicle accident with entrapment. Seconds later, ECC advised Engine 111 and Rescue Squad 24 that the accident was actually going to be in Woodsboro and directed all equipment to continue to that location, as there was no response out of Co.16.

Ambulance 169 arrived on scene of Rt.550 and Rt.194. Responders confirmed a head-on-collision with one patient still trapped in the vehicle. RS16 arrived on scene under-staffed and began to stabilize the vehicle.

E111 and RS24 arrived on scene. D11 established command. E111 crew stretched a trash line into service for fire suppression. RS24’s crew assisted RS16 crew with extricating the patient from the vehicle removing the doors and doing a dash-roll.

Medic 2 and EMS901 arrived on scene and assisted A169 with patient care. A248 arrived on scene and began patient care on a second patient.

EMS901 requested aviation due to mechanism. E172 was dispatched to Woodsboro Park to setup a landing zone for Trooper 3. Patient was extricated and was flown to Shock Trauma. Second patient was a refusal. D11 terminated command at 12:53 p.m., and units went in service.
