Woman Dies in Woodsboro After Being Struck
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office reports that an unidentified woman between the ages of 18 and 25 years old a young woman identified as Sarah Lynn Ruhl, 30 years old, of Woodsboro died this morning after being struck by a vehicle on Maryland Route 194. Responding to a call at 6:23 a.m. Sunday, deputies found the young lady and pronounced her dead at the scene.
The driver of a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta, William Beacom of Detour, MD, struck a pedestrian near Route 550 along a dark and foggy Route 194. The driver stopped and called 911 to report the collision. Deputies responded and closed Route 194 while they investigated.
Their investigation revealed that Ms. Ruhl was walking in the southbound lane of the roadway. She was wearing dark clothing as she walked through a foggy, dark morning. They do not believe speed to be a factor in the crash, nor was Mr. Beacom impaired by drugs or alcohol.
Ms. Ruhl attended of Walkersville Elementary, Middle and High Schools. She and her family have lived in Walkersville for about thirty years. She was employed by Food Lion.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office asks for the public’s assistance in identifying the victim and with any information regarding this tragedy. The deputies describe her as a white female about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 90 – 100 pounds.
