Walkersville Planning Commission Schedules Busy Meeting
The Town of Walkersville’s Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. The meeting agenda represents a full night for the Planning and Zoning board.
Parkside developers seek approval of Homeowners Association documents. The Planning Commission recently approved a one-year extension of an aproved site plan for Parkside, a planned development on Biggs Ford Road. The HOA documents have been edited and revised several times this year by the commission and the developer.
Commissioners plan to review a site plan for the Red Cross building on at the corner of East Frederick Street and Main Street. A company that sells and installs fire suppression systems plans to purchase the building for its offices. Last month, the company approached the Planning Commission for guidance in applying for a site plan approval.
Walkers Overlook hopes to have its site plan approved by the Planning Commission. The conditions of its original site plan were not met and other items strayed from those approved. Frederick County and The Town of Walkersville have only granted a temporary use permit for the reception facility. That approval expires mid-summer. Issues to be addressed include use of buildings and parking.
Sheetz seeks approval for its CLI facility. CLI is Sheetz’ transportation company, hauling fuel for the company. Sheetz submitted a site plan to erect an office building and truck parking on a vacant lot Nancy Sheetz owns behind the new Sheetz store currently being built along Fountain Rock Road and Stauffer Court.
Finally, the Burgess and Town Commissioners of the Town of Walkersville hope to get the blessing of the Planning Commission for its planned Water Treatment Plant. The new facility will dwarf the existing facility, but will be located on the same parcel of land behind the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company’s Carnival Grounds and adjacent to Walkersville High School.
The meeting will be held at Town Hall and begins at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend and make comments on each of the plans under consideration.
