If you or a family member is looking for something to do during the week and/or weekend you should check out the Walkersville Library. Be a part of the community and interact with other locals who share the same interests as yourself.
Kimberly Quick, the new event director here at Walkerville Library, has tons of events lined up for the whole family. “We have teen programs here which are predominantly in the afternoon, we have adult programs, and we have children’s programs/ Pre-School/Baby programs Monday through Thursday,” she stated.
Considering October is coming to a close and November is right around the corner. The library has a whole month of plans set up for its visitors. Some big events taking place this month include on November third from 3:15pm – 4:15pm be sure to bring your kid in (opened to grades 6-12) to the library so your child can be a President for a Day.
If this event doesn’t sound like it’s for you, how about the STEM@NASA Goddard (Library Edition) taking place on Thursday November 10th, where kids can learn about NASA and upcoming 2017 Total Solar Eclipse. Lastly, for those with younger children on November 23rd from 1-2pm the library will be holding a Thanksgiving Party for Preschoolers (ages 3-5). Where there will be stories telling, games, music, and fun arts and crafts for the kids.
If you’re a teen or a tween and some of the events at the library don’t seem like your thing, don’t let that keep you from going to be library. Quick said, “Teens that come here after school are just here to hang out — now you guys have been in school all day it’s a good place to unwind in a safe space.”
She went on to say, “We do a lot of chess and checkers, you know board games and you know that’s a good way to keep kids engaged and productive while still having fun.”
So be sure to check out Frederick County Public Library’s website for more upcoming events that you may want to participate in or even just stop by.
