Walkersville Annual Police Meeting

MSPSHIELDThe Town of Walkersville will hold its second Annual Police Meeting on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall.

The Burgess and Commissioners welcome the public to come discuss police protection in Walkersville.  Resident troopers and Maryland State Police Barrack supervisors will be present to answer questions and hear concerns, along with the Burgess and Commissioners.

Last year, the Town held its first meeting on crime in response to public outcry for responsiveness to issues. The public turn out was impressive, and many items were discussed. The meeting helped the Burgess and Town Commissioners to vote to expand the Resident Trooper Program this fiscal year, and contract to have security cameras installed around town. The Town opened their contract to residents to purchase cameras and digital video recorders that could be accessed by Maryland State Police for surveillance. In January, the number of Resident Troopers will expand from three to five.
