Walkersville 125th Anniversary Parade Seeks Entries
The Town of Walkersville, in celebration of its 125th Anniversary, and the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company proudly announce a parade to coincide with the annual carnival. The parade will take place on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. The parade begins promptly at 4:00 p.m. The rain date for the parade will be Wednesday, July 5th at 6:30 pm.
The parade will line up on Glade Road and move from the intersection of E. Pennsylvania Ave and Glade Road. The parade will continue to the east end of Frederick Street (by Pizza Hut) and through the Town to the Fire Company’s Carnival.
The Town of Walkersville 125th Anniversary Parade Committee invites interested parties to participate in this year’s parade. “We hope that your non-profit organization, church group, schools, business, civic organization, or any other private group would like to participate in this Town of Walkersville Parade and become part of its celebration for a Town that we love.”
Different categories reward participation with monetary prizes. Three prizes will be awarded for the best appearing Non-Profit Organization Floats, and two prizes for best appearing Commercial Floats. Participants may use the 125th Anniversary theme or a theme to promote the group participating.
Thirteen Special Monetary Awards to Non-Profit Organizations or Individuals that make a good showing, and are a crowd favorite will also be awarded. This group may includes marching groups, antique cars, trucks and tractors, horse and buggies, civic groups, school groups, etc.
The committee requests that participants send, phone or email definite or possibility of entry as soon as possible so that the Parade Committee can follow up to verify participation. Participants may also send, phone or email any questions to the addresses included on the attached entry form.
