Yesterday the Walkersville High School Unified Bocce Team fought a hard game against Catoctin High School. The team led by Coach Charles Hunter lost hard fought games at their third match. The Lions faced obstacles against their opponents because both teams had excellent strategy when it came to scoring points.

Students when asked how they thought the meet went generally thought that all players worked very hard and were having fun. “I think everybody is working really hard to get where we [want to] be and get the end result,” said junior Taylor Seabolt. “We are having fun and that’s all that really matters. Although, it is nice to win,”  said senior Caylee Winpigler. Senior Enrique Figueroa said “I think we are playing [well] right now.” Every member of the team no matter the outcome of their individual matches seemed to be really enjoying themselves and getting into the atmosphere of the game.

The team has improved in many ways since the beginning of their season. “I think the team has improved at every practice and every meet,” said Seabolt.

“I think we have learned something every time we have gone somewhere new. [As in] new strategies to use and new techniques. We have improved every time it might not always be that we win every time but we are definitely learning things,” said Winpigler. The general consensus is that as long as the team was improving and having fun, winning did not really matter. “Yeah, I agree (with Taylor and Caylee], each time we go to a different place, the floors are always different and we just have to adapt, but I think doing that each time makes us better,” said Figueroa.

Come out to Tuscarora next week to watch the Walkersville High School Unified Bocce Team!
