Walkersville Day 2014

Today is Walkersville Day, a day filled with yard sales, church fundraisers, and a chance for the whole town to enjoy spring. The St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Pennsylvania Avenue hosts its annual Strawberry Festival, which may be the biggest draw in town.  A bluegrass band entertains the crowd as they enjoy hot foods and strawberry desserts. Fence Regulations Being Updated

The Town of Walkersville’s Planning Commission met Wednesday, May 13, 2014 for its regularly scheduled workshop. A request by town commissioners to update fencing regulations monopolized the meeting. Susan Hauver, Planning and Zoning Administrator for the town, presented rules and regulations from various municipalities throughout the state. Planning commissioners spent a considerable time debating the sizes to be permitted on different properties based upon location on a block, zoning, and safety. Glade Elementary Student Medevaced

Glade Elementary School called Frederick County Emergency Services at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 after a five year old student fell off of playground equipment. The student, a five year old boy, bumped his head when he fell. He reported not being able to see at time during his medical examination by emergency medical technicians. Emergency responders requested Maryland State Police transport the boy by helicopter for more in-depth medical evaluation. Late reports indicated that the boy had suffered a concussion, and is recovering well.
