Bell Property Preliminary Plan

Tonight, the Walkersville Planning Commission will review preliminary plans for the development of the Bell Farm MD 194 and Fountain Rock Road.  The Planning Commission hearing will be held in the Walkersville Town Hall hearing room at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend and provide input at Planning Commission meetings. The developer plans to construct 102 homes.  The property adjoins Walkersville Elementary School.  The development’s entrance will be a shared road with the elementary school and Walkersville High School.  There will be another entrance on Fountain Rock Road.

New Non-Profit Operating Illegally in Walkersville?

A non-profit opened this spring with very little fanfare at 21 West Pennsylvania Avenue, but the non-profit’s business appears to be a violation of zoning for Neighborhood Business.  The property had been a florist shop and most recently a popular antique shop. While the town was told the location would be offices, the offices will soon become an after-school program for scores of children. Vandalism Gone to the Next Level

This summer, vandalism and other crimes seems to be spiking in Walkersville.  Most of the cases seem to be random and not directed at one person. That does not appear to be the case in this latest caper. Town Commissioner Don Schildt and his wife, Peggy, found their front yard vandalized in a unique and very disturbing manner.  Someone very carefully spelled out the word “DICK” using an herbicide.  The resulting dead grass in the middle of the yard left large, block letters for all to see.
