Carnival Starts TONIGHT!

Volunteers worked through the rain on Saturday and continued on a beautiful Sunday to prepare for the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company’s Carnival which opens this afternoon! Tonight, enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet of fried chicken, roast beef, and ham from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the social hall. Kids of all ages will enjoy tonight’s Ride All Night wristband special. Rides open at 6:00 p.m. and run until 10:30 p.m. The Full Effect Band will entertain the crowds all evening! Drone Footage of WSRR Steam Engine

YouTube user Mike Purks posted this fantastic aerial footage of Walkersville Southern Railroad’s Steam Engine this week. Its a great way to see a Glade Valley treasure from a different perspective. While steam engine rides have stopped for this year, the organization’s regular fleet of engines provide service every Saturday through September at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. They also offer dinner trains and special excursions throughout the year. Walkersville Budgets Increase and Decrease

The Town of Walkersville adopted its 2016 Budgets for Water and General Funds last night with little fan fare. All votes were unanimous and no members of the public spoke in opposition or support. After deciding to keep its tax rate “the lowest in Maryland,” Town Commissioners voted to adopt the General Fund budget present at its last meeting with one minor change.
