The Walkersville Planning Commission narrowly approved preliminary plans for the development of a 102 single-family home community on Tuesday evening. The commission spent a great deal of time asking questions of the developer. Questions ranged from road design, sidewalks, and drainage of storm run-off. Commission member Dick Brady asked about visibility at the planned entrance on Fountain Rock Road, and access to some houses at the entrance on Antietam Drive which would be shared with Walkersville Elementary and High Schools. Tonight, the Walkersville Planning Commission will review preliminary plans for the development of the Bell Farm MD 194 and Fountain Rock Road. The Planning Commission hearing will be held in the Walkersville Town Hall hearing room at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend and provide input at Planning Commission meetings. The developer plans to construct 102 homes. The property adjoins Walkersville Elementary School. The development’s entrance will be a shared road with the elementary school and Walkersville High School. There will be another entrance on Fountain Rock Road.

The Staley Family of Walkersville will propose a site plan for four four-unit condominium buildings to the Walkersville Planning Commission on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Days after GladeValley.net listed developments under review by the Walkersville Planning Commission, Verdant Development Group asked for a preliminary discussion and comments on a proposed development, Parkside, on Biggs Ford Road. The property lies south of Biggs Ford Road just before Kenneth Drive, and had been listed for sale a few months ago, and had been a working farm.
