Smoke In Sheetz

At 11:32 p.m. on April 9, 2015, Frederick Emergency Communications Center (ECC) alerted Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company (Co.11), Walkersville Volunteer Rescue Company (Co.24), and surrounding companies of a building fire at the Sheetz on Woodsboro Pike in Walkersville, Maryland. C11-1 arrived on scene to find smoke in the building.

Engine 111 arrived on the scene, laid out and stretched a 1 3/4″ line in place. Engine 23 arrived, picked up the line, and took place at the hydrant. Quint 11 arrived took first due truck assignment.

Ambulance 247 setup EMS on the scene. Rescue 24 arrived and helped Quint 11 crew.

Engine 111 and Enegine 23 crew investigated the scene as other companies arrived and staged.

After further investigation, crews found a cooler’s compressor blew which caused the smoke.

At 12:15 a.m., C11-1 placed the box assignment in service and units cleared when ready.
