On Friday October 10, the Walkersville Lions took on the TJ Patriots. The Lions’ dropped their third straight game, losing this one 20-27.

1st Quarter
The first quarter didn’t have that much action to start off. Walkersville had the only touchdown in this quarter. It was set up by a long run by senior running back Patrick Cleveland. Cleveland ran the ball in one play after his long run. The PAT was made by senior Brad Wolfe. For the rest of the quarter the offenses on both sides could not string anything together.

2nd Quarter
Walkersville was able to score again thanks to a solid drive that had a mix of passing and rushing. Sophomore Chad Gleason was able to extend the lead with a short rushing touchdown. With a missed PAT the score was 13-0. TJ was able to score with 3:45 in the quarter. A strong passing attack helped them drive down the field and score. With the made PAT the score was 13-7.

The Lions went on a long drive and were able to score with 21 seconds left thanks to a passing touchdown caught by Wolfe. The PAT was made, now the score was 20-7. The Patriots started their drive with about 17 seconds. They were 60 or so yards away from the end zone. One pass play got them 25 yards. They had 6 seconds to score and still were 35 yards away. TJ scored as time expired thanks to a pass to the back corner of the end zone. The Patriots missed the PAT but the momentum was with TJ; the score was 20-13 at the half.

3rd quarter
The 3rd quarter started off with a bang. On TJs’ first offensive play, their quarterback threw a 65 yard touchdown. The PAT was made and that tied the game at 20. Walkersville defense and offense struggled this quarter. The Patriots were able to score again with one minute left thanks to another passing touchdown.

4th quarter
Both of the offenses struggled this quarter. It went back-and-forth with many three and outs. Walkersville’s defense was able to force TJ to punt towards the end of the game. That led to them having one final drive to try and tie the game up. Walkersville’s quarterback threw an interception with 45 seconds left and that ended their hopes of coming back.

Walkersville will look to improve their record to 4-3 against Linganore at home, on Friday October 17 at 7 p.m.
