Glade Valley Community Services’ 12th Annual HOLIDAY TOY SHOPPE REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
Glade Valley Community Services announces the 2016 Holiday Toy Shoppe registrations during the month of October. The Distribution Day (shopping/pick up!) is Wednesday, December 7th.
The Holiday Toy Shoppe program is sponsored by GVCS. This is a community-wide outreach effort to help families needing assistance in providing a better Holiday/Christmas for their children than might otherwise be possible due to financial constraints. This project depends on the generosity of local churches, organizations, businesses and local residents to provide the items necessary to accomplish this service to our neighbors and community. GVCS provides funding for the purchase of items, where needed, should community donations fall short. In addition, clothing, books and gently used coats are also provided. Applications for Holiday assistance will be accepted at the Walkersville Town Hall (Upper Level) during the following days and times:
Monday, October 10 Noon to 6:30pm
Thursday, October 13 9am – 6pm
Tuesday, October 18 3pm – 8pm
Friday, October 28 10am – 5pm
All parents registering must reapply and prove eligibility each year.
Children must be ages 0 to 18. 18 year olds must be students in high school. Children ages 0 – 12 receive gifts chosen by the parents and teens 13 – 18 receive gift cards.
To qualify you must live in the Walkersville Feeder School area and have proof of both residency and financial need. This may include: a copy of the child’s MD Child Health Program card, SNAP card (with current renewal paperwork), Free Meal Program at School paperwork, Pre-K program registration, proof of income or a referral from a charitable agency.
If you live in the Walkersville Feeder School District and are in need of gift assistance this holiday season, YOU MUST bring the following items to one of the registration dates above:
- Proof of Income and/or Financial Need related documents as described above
- Parent’s or Guardian’s picture ID and proof of residency (such as a copy of a bill with your correct address)
- Grandparents who are applying must have legal proof of guardianship
- Birth certificate for all children *with the registering parent’s name on the birth certificate (or have legal document stating why there is no birth certificate)
- Clothing and Sock/shoe sizes for children ages 0 – 12 years old
You will receive a number once registration is completed. This number will be your turn number on Weds., December 7 when the Holiday Toy Shoppe is open for your gift selections and pick up.
