The girls basketball team has kicked off their winter season with a victory against Liberty with a score of 68-31. They had a strong lead in the beginning which inevitably lead them to their victory.

Senior Hannah Rice said, “I think we did really good — we played well as a team, played with lots of enthusiasm and energy, played fast, and as a team we shot very good too.”

Junior Leah Wells commented, “For our first game I think we played really well. We worked well together and moved the ball quickly. We started off really hot and we’re up by 30 at half. Everyone got to play and it helped us develop as a team. Hopefully we are ready for Linganore on Friday.”

Although suffering from an injury, senior Rian Wright had great things to say about her teammates.“I think the team played really good [tonight]. Even though I’m not playing, I love watching them all play together instead of for themselves. Almost all of them came out of their shells last night and played really hard.”

Junior Megan Allen added, “I think we played good with great team effort and enthusiasm. We were all nervous before the game but our first quarter was full of energy and we got a quick lead by 20 points to help us take control of the whole game.”

Junior Julie Wallace said, “I think we played really good. We got a great start at the beginning [of the game] and we pushed through the whole game. We worked together and no one was selfish with the ball. I’m happy we won but I’m ready to play Linganore.”

The Lions are hyped up and ready for their game against Linganore this Friday, December 8th, at Linganore High School.

Julie Wallace led all scorers with 15 points, and had seven steals.  Eve Bernardoni had 14 points and Megan Allen had six steals and six rebounds.
